Scanning Key Content establishes a workflow to insert scanning of selected content into the acquisitions or cataloging process for some of Harvard’s hidden printed book collections. In accordance with fair use guidelines, cover images, tables of contents, colophons, and/or inscriptions can all be added to the catalog entry for a book at the point of processing. Benefits include expanding processing capabilities within current infrastructure, providing increased information to catalog users, and laying the groundwork for a much more dynamic and flexible future onlineĀ catalog.
