IRMA is a project to develop and implement an open source records management tool to enhance user and system access to records retention schedules and assist in the identification, capture, and management of University records in all formats. It built on an existing open source project (“Records Authority”) funded by the National Historic Publications and Records Commission and based at the University of Denver, selected as a low-cost, flexible, and web-based solution. Following a series of surveys and focus groups to inform additional development work, the project contributed enhancements back to the project at University of Denver; changes to the framework of the overall Archives website hampered completion of a local IRMA installation.
