The Transcription project sought to identify a transcription tool for use at Harvard from the many candidates available in the marketplace. Phase one assessed user needs and identified faculty and student interest in a transcription tool for use in research and teaching. Phase two identified tools for installation and testing, but was challenged by a lack of technical support sufficient for effective testing with the user community. The lack of technical support combined with a long horizon for possible integration with Harvard Library systems resulted in closure of the project without a choice of tool or plan for implementation.
