DRS Access for Mobile Devices developed an API to facilitate access to resources stored in Harvard’s Digital Repository System and then built an interface that calls the API in order to display the resources on mobile devices. The interface allows users to see and navigate through the contents of a document, displays bibliographic data and OCR text (if available) upon request, and links back to the catalog record for the resource. Benefits include a dramatically improved experience for library users accessing resources on mobile devices and the availability of an API to interested parties for other applications.
