Do We Own This? is a mobile application that allows users to quickly search Harvard’s catalog using a book’s ISBN to find out whether Harvard owns the item. If Harvard does not own the title, the user can choose to submit a pre-populated form with metadata about the item to suggest its purchase by the Library. The application uses OCLC’s WorldCat API and Library Technology Service’s PRESTO API for cataloging metadata. Future development could include the addition of Map It functionality, as well as versions for other mobile platforms, such as Android.
