Blink was a proof-of-concept, linked open data experiment to convert MARC records to RDF and expose them for linking with other data sources, such as Harvard Catalyst profiles, the Virtual International Authority File (VIAF) and eagle-i. Components of the project included ontology selection (e.g. bibo and foaf), repository and software tool selection, record testing, identification of external data sources (e.g., Medical Subject Headings, Library of Congress Subject Headings), and development of a user interface. After exploring both production and consumption of linked data through Blink, this project was concluded with the expectation of combining forces with other Harvard efforts in theĀ future.
