Yana developed a lightweight, modular, open-source template within which publishers can develop their own mobile applications for open access journals. The project produced a web application template with the following functionality: simple navigation, easy configuration, online viewing of HTML and PDF journal content, and the ability to bookmark articles. The benefits of the project include the ability for open access publishers to publish mobile-optimized content without significant investment in custom development and without high barriers to implementation.
