Supporting Cooperative Cataloging surveyed the existing landscape of cataloging tools for the OCLC Connexion client, identified catalogers’ unmet needs, and started to develop a set of shared tools to facilitate efficient and effective cooperative cataloging for the OCLC user community. The benefits of the project include creating a common toolkit built for the industry-standard cataloging tool and improvements to productivity resulting from increased use of macros for daily work. This project was challenged by the steep learning curve of the OCLC macro language, but may benefit from training received through participation in the Data Scientist Training for Librarians, which added to the skillset of staff performing this work.
