The Author Names Project identified use cases where metadata streams outside the library, for example, from publishers, could be integrated with library authority control systems. It resulted in the Online Author Questionnaire application, which funnels such data into Name Authority Records, minimizing redundant work within libraries and partner communities, and moving libraries toward a linked data environment where author identifiers will uniquely identify content creators in catalogs.
